CAMPUS MASTER PLAN: BUILDING SPECIFIC
Benchmark School
Media, Pennsylvania

As part of our efforts for the Benchmark School, we worked extensively on their campus master plan. Many buildings already existed but we worked on items such as vehicular and pedestrian traffic flow as well as determining the best location for the new buildings and additions they were contemplating. Our understanding and analysis of the site was one of the reasons that we were chosen to complete the new building program for them.

CAMPUS MASTER PLAN: LONG RANGE PLANNING
Swarthmore College
Swarthmore, Pennsylvania

Swarthmore College wanted to understand the long term growth potential for the physical aspects of the institution while at the same time considering their goals regarding enrollment. We analyized all of the existing buildings in terms of funtion, the potential sites for new structures within the existing campus and a probable building function for the various sites. It was important as we studied these sites, that the character of the campus was not significantly changed from what is now understood as the Swarthmore College Campus.

PROGRAMMING/PLANNING
Swarthmore College
Swarthmore, Pennsylvania

The plan above is of Parrish Hall. The largest and one of the oldest buildings on the Swarthmore College Campus. It is both the literal and symbolic center of the campus. The building is a mixed use building that includes many aspects of campus life. It housed the President's office, the Deans offce and several other administrative departments as well as the post office and domitory rooms on the upper floors.

Our task for the College was to interview all of the departments that were housed in the building and to determine their current and future physical needs. This process is called programming. Once we programmed the needs of the departments, we reconfigured the way the building had been used in order to maximize space and the funtioning between departments. Our study also indicated code and life safety issues that needed to be addressed in any long term prospect for the Parrish Hall.
